Plein Air painting celebrates and engages one with the elements at hand. To be outside, feeling and reflecting on the grand forces that we are part of is more than enough,...  though it is an enjoyable and thoughtful blessing to fashion expressive songs of our journey.  It is this gift of exchanging our individual sentience with our neighbors in a means that connects us with our universal sameness,..... that is one of our finer traits.

A few examples of works done in the open, with the supporting firmness of the Earth underfoot and the timeless blush of the sky overhead.....

As with most things, I approach art making with a curiosity and an openness that seems to be a more natural state of growth and development.. Sometimes, a looser approach. Sometimes, a tighter approach. Where do our questions lead us.....

For several days,... I stood in my backyard. Making marks. With a pencil and brushes buttery with oil paint,,.. an image grew from the whole of the environment. Looking out, with light bouncing in, upside down off the back of my eyeballs into the complex compressed arrangement of my mind. To a degree,... we make a world that reflects our sensibilities. It is a fine game, that we should step back from,... and smile with shared playfulness.

Painting of my backyard with the season of magic upon the land. The breath of Winter touched by the warm fingers of the Sun.....

Towering. Up into the canopy of blueness are the works of our species. With shoulders toward  anticipated tomorrows we rush headlong,,.... laughing and crying. The mouse sits fat and happy on a beam, with a dusting of grain on her whiskers.

Night folds into Day folds into Night folds into Day folds into Night,.... a blue green speck are we in the vastness of the cosmos.....
